Fort Worth, TX is a city located in North Central Texas. It's so large that it spreads throughout Denton County, Parker County, Wise County and Tarrant County. According to the 2015 census, Fort Worth, TX has a population of over 833,000. It is the second largest city in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Fort Worth, TX is often referred to as "where the West begins." When it was established in 1849, it was the northernmost fort protecting the American Frontier after the Mexican-American War. By the mid 20th century, the oil industry was booming. Fort Worth, TX was located right in the heart of it. Today, the city must deal with the benefits and issues associated with the underground natural gas reserves.
