Odessa, TX is a fairly large city located in primarily in Ector County, Texas, although part extends into Midland County. As of the 2015 census, Odessa has a growing population of over 320,000. The city was founded in 1881 as a cattle-shipping point and water stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway.
Over time, Odessa became more metropolitan and has a succession of oil blooms. Economically, Odessa is driven by the oil industry. Some of the largest employers in the region are local oilfield supply companies and processing plants.
